Vatican Radio

Vatican City, officially Vatican City State (Stato della Città del Vaticano/Status Civitatis Vaticanae), is an independent city-state enclaved within Rome, Italy. Established with the Lateran Treaty (1929), it is distinct from, yet under “full ownership, exclusive dominion, and sovereign authority and jurisdiction” of the Holy See (Sancta Sedes). With an area of 49 hectares (121 acres) and a population of about 825, it is the smallest sovereign state in the world by both area and population.

Radio Vaticana (Vatican Radio) is the radio station of the Holy See and produces programmes in many different languages, it provides up-to-date information on the activities of Pope and the life of the Church in the world, and on general current affairs.
The production goes from single articles with audio-clips and photos, to videonews, podcast, special brodcasting in audio and video streaming live.  The Vatican Radio website is available in 38 languages.

The six bells of the Basilica are situated in the room below the clock on the left. The largest – Campanone has a diameter of 2.50 meter, a height of 2.60 meter, measuring 7.5 meters in circumference and weighing about 11 tons. It was cast in 1786 by Luigi Valadier and blessed by Pius VI in the same year. The note of this bell is E3.
